Khurda/Kalahandi: Three minor girls drowned to death in separate incidents at Khurda and Kalahandi districts on Saturday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Rosy Sahu (17), Namita Sahu (12) and Rupali Samantaray (10).
Rosy and Namita died while taking bath in a pond at Bagada village under Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi district.
Getting information, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
The two girls died while they trying to save their brother from drowning.
Meanwhile, Rupali fell into a well in and died in Godipada in Khurda district.
On Friday, an elderly woman and her two granddaughters died after drowning in a pond at Nuagaon village under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak district.
The deceased have been identified as Malilata Mallik (70), Anjana (11) and Shrabani (10).
According to sources, Anjana and Shrabani drowned in the pond while they were cleaning themselves after attending nature’s call.
The grandmother entered the pond to save the girls and drowned herself.
