Three Held With 14 Quintals Ganja In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The Police, on Monday, seized 14 quintals ganja from three vehicles at Balimela in Malkangiri district. Three persons have been arrested in the case.

Acting on a tip-off regarding ganja smuggling, a police team conducted simultaneous raids at Balimela, Chitrakonda and other places of the district and intercepted these three vehicles after noticing suspicious activities. During search, the police recovered a huge cache of ganja from a luxurious car with blue beacon light fitted on its top, and a tipper and a tomato-laden mini-truck.

According to police sources, the accused tried to pose as VVIPs by using a car fitted a blue beacon for smuggling purpose. The trio was supplying the banned substance from the cut-off areas of Chitrakonda to other parts of the district and outside.

The accused are being questioned about the involvement of others in the racket, the sources said.
