Gunupur: Police on Sunday arrested three persons at Gunupur town in Odisha’s Rayagada district while they were allegedly betting in the Women’s T20 World Cup final match between India and Australia.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of officers of the Town police station raided a house and arrested the trio.
Cash worth Rs 1.26 lakh, three ATM cards, six smartphones and two bikes were seized from their possession.
Informing the media, a police officer said that the accused have an online betting link with Chhattisgarh and Hyderabad.
Interrogation of the three arrested persons is underway to elicit more details about their modus operandi, the officer added.
