Phulbani: Police on Monday arrested three persons in connection with the alleged gang rape of a minor girl of Khajuripada village in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
The incident had taken place on May 28.
According to the complaint lodged by the girl’s father, he had dropped his daughter at a relative’s place before leaving for work. He works as a daily wage labourer.
Finding her alone in the house, three youths of the same village called her out of the house in the afternoon. Later, they took her to an under-construction house on the outskirts of the village. She was gang-raped by two youths while the other recorded the act on his mobile phone.
The girl kept mum about the incident as the accused had threatened to circulate the video on social media. Her father, however, came to know about it from other sources and lodged a complaint at Khajuripada police station.
Acting on the complaint, police handed over the girl to the district Child Welfare Centre (CWC) and arrested the three youths and seized their mobile phones.
