Dhenkanal: Three persons including the driver were seriously injured when a cattle laden truck overturned near Baji Rout bridge at Nilakanthapur under Bhuban police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district in the wee hours on Monday.
Besides, four cows were killed and 15 cattle were injured in the accident. The injured cows were shifted to a local veterinary hospital while three injured persons were admitted to the Bhuban hospital, sources said.
The incident took place at about 3.30 AM
The deceased have been identified as Kanhu Charan Swain of Mahalapa village, Chandan Behera of Mrudanga village and Milu Bhuyan hailing from Sukinda area.
Eyewitnesses said the truck driver lost control of the vehicle due to dense fog causing poor visibility. Sources also said the truck was overloaded.
Following the incident, tension prevailed in the area after irate locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation to the owners of the dead and injured cattle.
