Malkangiri: Three persons were injured after a powerful Nor’wester accompanied by heavy rain and strong squally winds swept across Malkangiri district on Wednesday night.
The trio was injured after tree branches fell and damaged a major portion of their houses at two different places in Khairaput block of the district.
Vehicular movement came to a grinding halt at Gobindapalli Chhak on the road connecting Jeypore and Malkangiri after a number of trees were uprooted in the storm, blocking the busy route.
Besides, communication and power services were disrupted owing to snapping of power lines in most parts of the district.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Department has forecast Nor’wester rain accompanied by hail storm to lash various parts of Odisha till May 5.
