Three Killed, Eight Injured In Separate Lightning Strikes In Odisha

Pattamundai/Rairangpur/Nabarangpur: At least three persons were killed and eight others sustained injuries in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Odisha on Friday.

Two persons died and two others were injured after being struck by thunderbolt at Koratanara village in Kendrapara district. The trio was gossiping at an open place when the incident took place.

The injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital immediately.

Similarly, a girl suffered injuries after being hit by lightning strike at Narasinghpur under Pattamundai block of the district.

Besides, three rooms of a house were gutted in lightning strike at Dangamal village in the same district.

In Mayurbhanj, a person was killed while working in an agricultural field at Dandabas village in Rairangpur of Mayurbhanj district.

In another incident, five people were grievously injured after being struck by lightning at Pandikot village under Papadahandi block in Nabarangpur district.

Meanwhile, southwest monsoon arrived in Odisha two days ahead of the scheduled date.

Rainfall is expected to occur over several places of south Odisha.

The monsoon is likely to cover other parts of the state within the next 24 hours.
