New Delhi: At least three people were killed and several others injured after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building in Delhi’s Tughlakabad Extension area in the early hours of Friday, officials said. Firefighters also
rescued multiple residents trapped inside the building.
According to reports, the blaze erupted in a five-storey residential building and quickly spread through the structure. Delhi Fire Services rushed several fire tenders to the spot after receiving information about the incident and launched rescue and firefighting operations, reported HT.
Three people lost their lives in the fire, while at least eight others sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. Firefighters rescued several residents, including women who were trapped inside the building.
The incident comes just weeks after a devastating fire at an accommodation facility in Delhi’s Hauz Rani area that claimed more than 20 lives and sparked concerns over fire safety compliance in the national capital.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the Tughlakabad fire.
