Rourkela: Three persons were killed after a truck rammed a juice shop near Kutra bus stand in Sundargarh district late on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Brijesh Souria, Jilendar Sonakar and Udar Sunakar. All the three were residents of Uttar Pradesh.
The trio was sleeping on the footpath near the shop when the accident took place.
According to locals, the accident occurred between 1:30 and 2 am when the driver of the truck bearing registration number OD 14 D 3809 lost control over the vehicle, apparently due to drowsiness.
One of them died on the spot while the two others succumbed to their injuries while being taken to Burla hospital for treatment.
On being informed about the mishap, police rushed to the spot and seized the truck. The driver and helper of the vehicle were detained at the local police station.
Meanwhile, the locals have demanded strict action against the detainees for their negligence.
