Bhubaneswar: Four more coronavirus positive cases were confirmed in Odisha late Saturday evening, taking the total COVID-19 patients in the state to 54.
The state government informed about the new cases but is yet to share details about them.
The Health and Family Welfare Department tweet also informed about a technical snag on the its official website, which created confusion over the number of positive cases detected on Saturday. While the cumulative number of confirmed cases was 54, it showed that only two samples had tested positive for the virus. The total confirmed cases on Friday was 50. The date still was April 10.
Two persons – a 35-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man – had tested positive for the virus on Friday. They are close contacts of the Unit IV case, who was found to have contracted the virus on April 7.
Of the total 54 cases, one person has died, while 12 have recovered or discharged.
During the press briefing on Saturday afternoon, Director of National Health Mission (NHM), Shalini Pandit, said only two of 37 active cases needed hospital care.
With four more cases being detected late evening, the total number of active cases are now 41.
