Rayagada: Three members of a family were killed by unidentified men on suspicion of practising witchcraft at Ukkamba village under Ramanguda block in Rayagada district, the said police on Tuesday.
The dead persons have been identified as Gopal Sabara, Laxmi Sabara and Jankini Sabara. They were missing since February 23 and a complaint in this regard had been lodged at the local police station.
Gopal Sabara’s daughter Sabita Sabara alleged that the three were beaten to death with wooden planks over suspicion that they practised witchcraft.
However, the exact reason behind the deaths is yet to be ascertained. Rayagada sub-divisional police officer Rajkishore Dash reached the spot with police and scientific teams and started investigations into the matter.
