Lucknow: Three schoolteachers have been booked by the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district for allegedly abducting a 16-year-old Class X student of a convent school.
Two of those booked are teachers of the school where the girl studies. The third person is a former teacher, the police said.
According to a complaint by the girl’s father, resident of a village in Ubhaon, his daughter left home on February 25 for an exam. He alleged that Ajay Chauhan, the former teacher of her school, abducted her with the help of Priyanshu Yadav and Sandeep Shukla.
According to Anil Kumar Jha, additional superintendent of police, the teachers have been booked under Sections 137(2) and 61(2)A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). While Section 137(2) deals with kidnapping, Section 61(2)A is used against those involved in criminal conspiracy.
“Investigations are underway. We are still not clear about the exact sequence of events. We also do not know why the three teachers abducted the student. We are speaking to the accused as well as family members of the girl in an effort to get more details,” another police officer said.
Attempts are also being made to track the girl’s mobile phone. Call details of the phone will also be checked to solve the case, he added.
