Paradip: Three students drowned in Paradip Sea on Tuesday during Swachh Bharat programme organised by the local municipality on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Two of the students were rescued from the sea while the third ones is still missing.
According to information, the three students of Paradip Kendriya Vidyalaya had participated in a cleanliness drive carried out by the municipality at Kalinga Bali Yatra ground as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.
After the programme was over, the children started frolicking in the sea. Suddenly, all three of them slipped and fell into the water. Two of the victims, identified as A. Saijyoti and Subham Kulu were rescued by some locals.
The duo was rushed to Paradip Port hospital for treatment.
Efforts are on by fire services personnel and fishermen to rescue the third missing child Ansuman Das, a Class IX student of school, from the deep waters.
