Berhampur: The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on Saturday closed three temples in the city for gross violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
According to sources, there was a rush of devotees in the Kali temple, Thakurani temple and Ganesh temple at Bijupur Chhak in the city on the first day of the Navratri.
As the temple managements failed to ensure social distancing norms, the Municipal authorities in association with the police rushed to the three temples and locked the main gates.
The temples will remain closed for nine days till the conclusion of Navratri festival after which the keys will be handed over to the temple authorities, the Municipal authorities said.
