Angul: Police detained three youths of Chhendipada in Angul district for allegedly uploading and circulating an obscene video of a married woman on WhatsApp, on Thursday.
The video was uploaded in the WhatsApp group, ‘Kanaloi Local Toka’, which had many youths of Chhendipada area as members.
According to the police sources, one admin posted the video in the group and later, other group admins and members circulated it.
The video featured an intimate seen of a married woman and a man.
The police has started conducting raid at various places to nab other members, who were allegedly involved in the case.
It is being suspected that the video was shot while the duo was in a relationship and the man circulated it to take revenge after the woman married someone else. Notably, the woman hails from Angul.
Circulation of objectionable pictures and videos on social media continues unabated despite a police advisory, terming it illegal.
On June this year, some youths shot a video of a girl student and her male friend in Kendrapara district and circulated it on social media.
A group of six-seven youths accosted the girl, a college student, at Pentha sea beach, where she had gone with her male friend on June 14. They allegedly misbehaved with them. When her friend objected to their behaviour, the youths thrashed him and tore her clothes apart. They then took away their vehicle and mobile phones.
A complaint in this regard was lodged by the victim at Rajnagar police station after pictures of the incident went viral.
