Cuttack: Tension ran high at Pratapnagari village in Gopalpur area on the outskirts of Cuttack on Friday when three youths were found with bullet wounds after allegedly being shot at by four unidentified miscreants.
The injured, identified as Susant Rout, Samir Rout and Kalandi Rout, have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.
Sources said some village youths were having a feast on the premises of Dhakulai Vidyapeeth School on the occasion of Holi when four persons arrived in two bikes and abused them. When they resisted, the four suddenly attacked Susant. When Samir jumped in to save Susant, the miscreants started firing indiscriminately and fled the area.
Samir and Susant along with another youth of the village Kalandi sustained bullet injuries.
Following the incident, the villagers rushed to the school premises and admitted the trio to the SCB Medical College and Hospital where the condition of one of the injured youths was stated to be critical.
Meanwhile, police have begun a manhunt to nab the four miscreants.
