Thunder, Rain Likely In 18 Odisha Districts This Evening, IMD Issues Yellow Warning



Bhubaneswar: Intense thunderstorm coupled with lightning, rain and high-velocity wind is likely to lash at least 18 districts of Odisha on Tuesday evening,


the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a series of nowcast warnings.

The weather agency has issued a yellow warning for Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Sambalpur, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Kendrapada Jharsugudaand Koraput districts.

In a message issued at 4.15 pm, the MeT Centre in Bhubaneswar said thunderstorm, lightning, light to moderate rain, and wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur in these districts during the next three hours.

In another message, it issued similar warnings for districts like Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khurda and Nayagarh districts during the period.

People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strike.
