Bhubaneswar: Intense thunderstorm coupled with rain, lightning and high-speed wind is likely to hit at lea
st nine districts of Odisha on Wednesday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning. Capital city of Bhubaneswar is also likely to be affected by thunderstorm activity.
Issuing a message at 1.20 pm, the MeT Centre in Bhubaneswar sounded a yellow warning for Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Nbarangpur, Nayagarh, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Ganjam, Kandhamal and Rayagada districts.
Thunderstorm with lightning, light to moderate rain and wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur in these districts during next three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places to protect themselves from thunderstorm and lightning strikes.
