Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm coupled with gusty winds is likely to occur in several parts of Odisha over the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
While light to moderate rain is likely to occur in many areas of the state over the next one week, thunderstorm activity may continue in northern and coastal districts for two days. The IMD has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm in several districts.
In its midday weather bulletin, the IMD issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghapur, Jajpur, Kataka, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj till Thursday morning.
On October 1-2, the weather agency has also issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
People have been advised to remain aware and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity.
