Bhubaneswar: Bringing relief from severe heatwave, several parts of Odisha experienced thunderstorm accompanied by rain on Saturday evening.
The thundershower under the influence of northwesterly was reported from south coastal district of the state. The neighbouring districts also received rain.
In its evening bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast that light to moderate rain and thundershower is likely at one or two places in the districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput and Malkangiri by 8.30 am on Sunday.
On the heatwave, the IMD said as many as 10 places recorded maximum temperature of more than 43 degree Celsius with Boudh and Baripada registering 45.2 degree on the day.
