Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued nowcast warning for several districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 6.15 pm on Saturday.
Moderate rain/thundershower with lightning with hail & gusty wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph may affect Sundargarah, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Rayagada, Khandamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack (including Cuttack city and Khurda (including Bhubaneswar City) during the next 2 hours.
The weather agency has cautioned about waterlogging, poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas.
Yellow warning for light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 40-50 kmph has also been sounded for Kalahandi, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts during this period.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
