Thundershower With Lightning Likely In Odisha’s 5 Districts In 2 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Thundershower accompanied by lightning is likely to occur in some parts of five districts of Odisha in next two hours.

Issuing a yellow warning in a nowcast message at 7.30 pm, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar said light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely to affect some parts of Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts in next three hours.

The IMD has advised the people to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strike.

Earlier, the weather forecaster had said several parts of the state are likely to be battered by heavy to very heavy rain during next four days as the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has turned well marked and is set to intensify into a depression on Sunday.

Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at one or two places of Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri in next 24 hours, it added.
