Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience thunderstorm activity accompanied by strong winds till August 8, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
Heavy rain is also likely in five districts of the state on August 6-7.
The weather agency has warned of thunderstorm/ lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts from August 4 to 8.
On August 6, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Similar weather conditions may prevail at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda on August 7.
Though there is no weather warning after August 8, light to moderate rain may continue at a few places across the state.
