Thunderstorm Activity May Continue In Odisha For 5 Days, Heavy Rain From June 24

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity along with heavy rainfall may continue in Odisha till June 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Saturday.

Thunderstorm coupled with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Rayagada districts by Sunday morning. The weather agency has issued a yellow warning for these districts during this period.

There is no rain forecast for the next two days as the low-pressure area over southwest Bihar and neighbourhood is slowly moving in northwestward direction and gradually weakening.

The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase again in different parts of Odisha from June 24.

On June 24-25, thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rain may occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, and Bhadrak. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts.

On June 25-26, yellow warning of thunderstorm, lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rain has been issued for some places of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts.
