Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued thunderstorm alert for 10 districts of Odisha on Thursday.
The alert has been sounded for Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Khurdha districts till 7.45 pm.
The latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and spells of rain is likely to occur over these districts, a Met bulletin said.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
Average rainfall recorded in the state for the last 24 hours is 4.1 mm.
As many as three districts received average rainfall of above 10 mm. Jharsuguda district received 19.4 mm, while Sundargarh and Sambalpur recorded 17.2 mm and 11 mm respectively.
