Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued thunderstorm warning for four districts of Odisha.
According to a bulletin issued in this regard, latest weather Doppler radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lighting and moderate rain is likely to occur over Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput and Malkangiri by 5:15 pm.
Residents at these places have been advised to either stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
The weatherman has predicted that the southwest monsoon that weakened after its arrival on June 8 is most likely to become active between June 23 and 25 as conditions are favourable for its revival.
The Met bulletin also stated that several parts of the state are expected to experience rainfall in the next 24 hours under the influence of a cyclonic circulation formed over west-central Bay of Bengal.
