Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued thunderstorm alert for four districts of Odisha on Friday.
The alert has been sounded for Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapara districts till 3:45 pm.
The latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur at these places, a Met bulletin said.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
The weatherman has also predicted that pre-monsoon rain would lash some parts of coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours.
According to the forecast, there would be a quick change in the weather conditions in the coastal, north coastal and south Odisha districts in the morning as these areas would get covered with thick clouds and the wind speed increase gradually.
While moderate rainfall would occur at one or two places in these areas, heavy rain would lash some parts of south coastal districts on June 2.
