Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Sunday issued thunderstorm warning for seven districts of Odisha.
The districts likely to be affected are Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Malkangiri.
According to an IMD bulletin, the latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur at these places.
People in these areas have also been advised to stay indoors, if such weather conditions prevail.
However, most parts of the state, including the Odisha capital, witnessed Nor’wester-triggered thunderstorm accompanied by rain and heavy wind late last night.
The weatherman had earlier predicted that the mercury would go up again after May 18.
