Bhubaneswar: Rain and thunderstorm in several parts of Odisha brought the much-needed relief from the scorching heatwave with considerable fall in temperature.
As per the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD), thunderstorm activity is likely to continue in many parts of the state over the next few days.
The maximum temperature in the state is expected to drop by 3-5 degree Celsius over the next two days, bringing more relief to the people.
In its midday bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued an orange warning of thunderstorm with lightning and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph at few places of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts in next 24 hours.
Similarly, a yellow warning was issued for thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph in some places of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and Jajpur.
On March 21, thunderstorm with lightning and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur districts. An orange warning was issued in these districts.
A yellow warning was issued about thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places of Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Nuapada, Bslangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Cuttack, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur.
On March 22, thunderstorm with lightning and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak. The weather agency has issued an orange warning in these districts.
Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khurda, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada.
On March 23, thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjharh, and Dhenkanal. An orange warning was issued for these districts.
