Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued warning of thunderstorm accompanied by hail, high velocity wind, lightning and rain in at least 11 districts of Odisha in next three hours.
In a Nowcast Warning issued at 4.15 pm, the MeT Centre in Bhubaneswar issued an orange warning for moderate thunderstorm coupled with hail, wind speed reaching 40–50 kmph, lightning and moderate rain in some parts of Kandhamal and Ganjam in next three hours.
Under its impact, minor damage to loose and unsecured structures, trees and standing crops may occur, it said.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly.
Similarly, the MeT Centre also forecast light to moderate thunderstorm with gusty wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph, lightning and moderate in some parts of Rayagada, Gajapati, Puri, Boudh, Angul, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda and Balasore in next three hours.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike.
