Bhubaneswar: The Regional Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Monday issued thunderstorm warning for as many as 17 districts of Odisha.
The alert has been sounded for Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Malkangiri and Malkangiri districts.
Latest Doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur at these districts by 1 pm, an IMD bulletin stated.
This apart, the weatherman has also forecast heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in coastal Odisha.
People in these places have been advised to stay indoors or take shelter in safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
