Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for 15 districts of Odisha.
The districts likely to be affected are Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kendrapara, Kandhamal and Dhenkanal till 12:30 pm, a bulletin issued by the regional meteorological centre said.
People in these areas have been advised either to stay indoors or shift to safer places, if such weather conditions prevail.
Meanwhile, almost all parts of the state have received moderate to heavy rainfall in past 24 hours.
The weatherman has predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm is likely to lash many parts of the state in the next 24 hours.
Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
