Bhubaneswar: At least 18 districts of Odisha are likely to be lashed by rain and thunderstorm for over three hours on Friday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
Issuing yellow warning at 3.25 pm, the weather agency said that state capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities are also likely to be affected.
Light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm likely to affect some parts of the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Raagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar within next three hours, it said.
Similarly, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph likely to affect some parts of districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nuapada, Nabarangpur and Balangir districts within next three hours.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places protect from lightning strike.
