Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for 18 districts of Odisha on Sunday.
The alert has been sounded for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Balasore, MayurbhanJ, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Koraput, Gajapati, Rayagada, Bargarh, Deogarh, Kendrapara and Khurda districts till 8:30 pm.
The latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and rain likely to occur at these places, a Met bulletin said.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
