Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for six districts of Odisha on Saturday.
The alert has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts till 8:30 pm.
The latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and rain likely to occur at these places, a Met bulletin said.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
The weatherman has also predicted heavy rainfall in the state within the next 24 hours. The rainfall activity will continue in most parts of the state for three days from July 29.
