Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Wednesday issued thunderstorm and lightning alert for four districts of Odisha.
The districts likely to be affected are Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar districts.
According to the IMD bulletin, the latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is likely to occur at these places around 6:30 pm.
People in these areas have also been advised to stay indoors, if such weather conditions prevail.
Most parts of the state, including Odisha capital, witnessed a drop in temperature for the last two days owing to Nor’wester-triggered thunderstorm accompanied by rain and heavy wind.
The weatherman had earlier predicted that the mercury would go up again after May 18.
