Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for nine districts of Odisha on Monday.
The alert has been sounded for Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Boudh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts till 10:15 am.
The latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and rain likely to occur at these places, a Met bulletin said.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
Most parts of the state, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall last night.
The weatherman has also forecast heavy rainfall in the state during the next 24 hours.
