Thunderstorm, Lightning & Squall@50Kmph To Hit Odisha From Tomorrow; Check IMD Forecast

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience a fresh wet spell with another western disturbance triggering rain and thunderstorm activity across the state for two days from Match 26.

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Nabarangpur while dry weather may prevail over the remaining districts

8.30 am on March 26 to 8.30 am on March 27

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh and Khurda.

Possibility of hailstorm at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati.

Thunderstorm with lightning likely at one or two places in Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Malkangiri and Koraput.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and one or two places in the rest of Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40kmph at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur while dry weather may prevail in remaining districts.

Some parts of South and coastal Odisha are likely to experience rain for another two days with little change in the weather condition there after.

The MeT office further said that there will be no large change in the day temperature during the next 4-5 days across the state.

According to IMD’s extended range forecast, two fresh active western disturbance ( one from March 30 to April 2 and another from April 2 to April 4) and their associated induced cyclonic circulations may trigger thunderstorm/hailstorm/lightning in eastern India, during many days of the week.

Isolated to scattered rain/thunderstorm activity is very likely in Odisha between March 24 and March 30. Isolated moderate thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind 40-50 kmph is likely in some districts during second half of week-1. Maximum temperature is likely to be below normal by 2-3⁰C at many places during these seven days.

Similarly, the state may witness isolated to scattered rain/thunderstorm activity between March 31 and April 6. Isolated moderate thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind 40-50 kmph is likely in some districts in the beginning of this week. Maximum temperature is likely to remain 2⁰C below normal at many places, it added.
