Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Centre (IMD) here on Wednesday issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for six districts of Odisha.
The alert has been sounded for Khurda, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, jajpur, Cuttack and Kandhamal districts.
According to a bulletin issued in this regard, latest Doppler radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind is likely to occur at one or two places over these districts between 9 pm.
People in these places have been advised to take shelter at safer places, if such weather conditions prevail, the bulletin stated.
The weatherman has also predicted that heat wave conditions are expected to prevail in the state for the next 24 hours. Rainfall is most likely to occur over most parts of the state between June 23 and 25.
