Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued the yellow warning for thunderstorm, lightning and strong wind speed over nine districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
Due to the formation of a trough stretching from southeast Bihar to north coastal Odisha, the rainfall activity in the state will gradually increase, the IMD said in a mid-day bulletin.
The bulletin also said that though the intensity of rainfall will continue till March 22, there will be light to moderate rain or thundershower in most parts of the state during the subsequent three days till March 25.
The yellow warning issued for the following districts is as follows.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsingpur, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati and Koraput.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, in an evening bulletin said that the rainfall recorded since the last nine hours till 5.30 pm on Saturday was highest in Bhubaneswar with 34.4 mm followed by Malkangiri (13.2), Rayagada (10.4) and Paralakhemundi (6.8).
