Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued nowcast warning for 3 districts in Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 8 pm on Thursday.
Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, and light to moderate rain likely in some parts of Cuttack, Khurda and Bargarh district in three hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The MeT office had earlier issued orange warning for thunderstorm with hail, gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain in some parts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Rayagada till 7 pm. Thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain is also in Nuapada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Nayagarh, Khurda and Ganjam districts during this period, it added.
