Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for five districts of Odisha till around 6.30 pm on Wednesday.
Moderate thunderstorms,
rain, lightning with surface wind speed 50-60 kmph may occur at isolated places over Nabarangpur, Khordha, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamala in the next 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lighting strikes.
According to the IMD’s midday bulletin, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may occur at one or two places in the districts of Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on June 22. Similar weather conditions with wind speed of 40-50 kmph is also likely in Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) may also occur in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada.
There is also a warning for heavy rain at one or places in Baleshwar, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada and Koraput
