Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Thursday issued thunderstorm and lightning warning for 14 Odisha districts, including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The Centre, in a nowcast (hourly bulletin), advised the people of Puri, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Nayagarh, Balangir and Ganjam to remain indoors in the next three hours.
The IMD has forecast moderate thunderstorm with gusty wind speed reaching 40 to 50 km per hour besides lightning and light to moderate rain.
Similar warning of light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning has been issued for Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Cuttack in the next three hours.
The Special Relief Commissioner has advised the district heads to closely monitor the to weather and move people to safety wherever necessary.
