Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places in Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh till 8.30 am on Thursday.
In the next three hours, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Rayagada districts are likely to experience light thunderstorm with lightning and light rain.
People have been advised to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
While dry weather will prevail for the next two days, light to moderate rain or thundershower can be expected at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati on Saturday (March 20).
Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Boudh and Kandhamal are likely to experience similar weather conditions, the following day (March 21).
The IMD, however, said that there will be no large change in day temperature, which will remain 2-4 degree Celsius above normal, during the next 4-5 days.
