Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued thunderstorm alert for eight districts of Odisha.
The alert has been sounded for Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Khurda, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Gajapati and Rayagada till 11 pm.
The latest Doppler weather radar and images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and spells of rain is likely to occur over these districts, a Met bulletin said.
People in these districts have been advised to stay indoors or shift to safe locations, if such weather conditions prevail.
The weatherman has predicted heavy rainfall in most parts of the state on August 12 and 13 with a low pressure forming over the Bay of Bengal.
