Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely in some parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts in next 2 hours.
In a Nowcast Warning released at 8.35 pm, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for these districts. Besides thunderstorm and gusty wind, lightning and moderate to intense rain is likely to affect the districts, it forecast.
“Under its impact, minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, some damage to standing crops may occur.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning,” the IMD advised.
In its evening bulletin, the weather forecaster said thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely at one or two places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore,
Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Angul in next 12 hours.
The IMD has also forecast rainfall in different parts of the state for next 4 days till April 11.
