Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for three districts of Odisha till around 4 pm on Friday.
Moderate thunderstorms, lightning and rain with surface wind 50-60 kmph may occur at a few places in Jagatsinghpur, Keonjh
ar and Puri in the next 3 hours. Similar warning with wind speed of 40-50 kmph has also been issued for Keonjhar, Kandhamal and Ganjam till 3.20 pm.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
According to IMD’s morning bulletin, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall may occur in Odisha on June 12-13. Isolated to scattered rainfall is also likely in the state from June 14-17. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) may continue from June 13-15.
Isolated heavy rainfall may also occur in Odisha from June 12-15. Thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) is also likely on June 12.
The MeT office further stated that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of Odisha during the next 2-3 days.
