Bhubaneswar: There will be thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind in most parts of Odisha from Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned.
The weather condition will prevail for five days till May 10, it added.
The IMD explained that nor’wester will lash Odisha under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the northern parts of Central Madhya Pradesh and an east-west trough running from the above cyclonic circulation to Tripura across Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal, .
In view of the changing weather condition, IMD has issued a yellow warning for the following districts.

May 7
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Sambalpur, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak,Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
