Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Wednesday said that ticketing system for darshan and Mahaprasad rate chart will soon be rolled out. These reforms were suggested by the Supreme Court recently.
“Ticket darshan is a significant mode of earning for temples across the country. As per the Record of Rights, the shares of the rate will be allotted to servitors and the savings from ticket earnings will be finalised soon,” he added.
Earlier, the SJTA used to charge Rs 50 for ‘Parimanik Darshan’ and it was again increased to Rs 100.
He also informed that it will be important to manage general darshan along the special-paid darshan. Devotees will be allowed to have darshan from the ‘Bhitara Katha’ section.
The rates of the tickets will be finalised soon, after discussion with servitors and the administration, he further said.
Mohapatra said the temple administration had discussed with the Suar Mahasuar Nijog and formulated the rate chart for Mahaprasad, which will be put up eventually. “Abadha rate charts will be put on display at Anand Bazaar on the temple premises from New Year,” he said.
The earthen vessels (Kodua) sizes will be standardised and labelled for devotees to proper identification, he added.
Around 5.5 to 6 lakh devotees and tourists are expected to visit the 12th century shrine on January 1.
