Tiffin Stall ‘Extortion’ Dispute Turns Violent In Odisha’s Ganjam, 6 Injured



Ganjam: A dispute over a roadside tiffin stall escalated into a group clash at Kabisuryanagar town in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday evening, leaving at least six persons injured.

Three among them are being treated at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kabisuryanagar. The other three were first rushed to the sub-divisional hospital in Aska before being transfe

rred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced medical care.

According to sources, Kalia Behera and his family ran a tiffin stall at Kabisuryanagar town. However, another local, Akshaya Patra, opposed the business and allegedly demanded protection money. The dispute escalated on Saturday evening when Akshaya and a group of men arrived at the stall and began verbally abusing Kalia. The confrontation quickly turned violent, with both sides exchanging blows and attacking each other with swords,

The incident took place merely 400 metres away from Kabisuryanagar police station.

Locals immediately informed police, who soon reached the spot. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the violent confrontation.
